I am so thankful for winter to finally be arriving, it’s my favorite season and it’s also the signal for the end of my busy work season. I get to go home for the first time since moving to California and I am ready to relax and visit with family. Winter is also my favorite time for baking since it’s so cold outside, it’s the one time of year that my kitchen doesn’t instantly overheat. I loved making this Creamy Maple Syrup Pie the other day and it’s perfect for the season with little to know fruits coming into season.
I’ve also partnered with Real California Milk for this post. Shortly after I moved to San Francisco, the North Bay region experienced devastating wildfires. The area was decimated. The fires destroyed thousands of homes and thousands of buildings. It left very impoverished areas completely leveled. I had coworkers whose friends and families lost everything. And even in the city, the smoke was so bad that for over a week that we had to wear face masks at work. Needless to say these wildfires had a huge impact on my life and I don’t even live in the most affected areas.
Real California Milk is helping not only victims of the North Bay wild fires but victims of the hurricanes that hit Texas and Florida earlier in the year. All you have to do to help is take a picture of the seal, post it to social media with the tag #sealsforgood. For every submission, they’ll donate $5. And hey, you don’t even have to buy the product to participate. If you see it in the grocery store, just snap a pic of the seal:
And yes if you’re wondering, I used Real California Milk, butter, cream and milk in this recipe and the recipe was fabulous. The pie had a creamy custard like texture with the flavor of fresh maple syrup. If you need an easy quick dessert in winter, this one if the perfect one!
