It’s been a long time since i’ve posted a foodie fail, which means up until now I’ve suffered no bodily harm nor have I messed up a recipe so badly that it needs it’s own post describing how much I’ve messed it up. But here it is, Foodie Fail: Cutting it Close.
It all started the other week when I was prying apart frozen bagels to make pizza bagels. And, well, I was using a sharp knife…and then it slipped and cut my finger very deeply. So of course my first instinct is to scream at the top of my lungs, but thankfully I knew enough to start running it under water and get it clean.
So why does this keep happening? First off, I’m using the wrong equipment. Make sure you use the proper knife (a butterknife for my instance) and it will lessen the odds for an error.
Secondly, the absolute worst spot for your hand to be is under the knife, which it where mine happened to be. So makre sure to watch your fingers, curl when necessary and cut away from them!
If the cut is deep enough, don’t be stupid like me, just go to a doctor and see if you need stitches. Mine was deep enough that I definitely hit the nerve, which is beyond painful at first and now I have numbness on that fingertip. So don’t be me, be safe!
